Who are we?
David Conway
Chairman
Maggie and I have been Exmouth residents for 24 years. I spent 44 years at sea, sailing in oil tankers, the last 16 years as Captain, with Maggie accompanying me for a large part of that time. Since 2002, I have been working with the British Admiralty on the production of nautical publications, with Maggie well in support. In all of our time at sea together, travelling the world's oceans, we have seen some wondrous things - but nowhere can match the sheer beauty and diversity of our amazing Exe Estuary and Jurassic Coast, for which we have an enduring passion.
Rod Lawrence
Naturalist and Ecologist and Exmouth Visitor Centre Trustee
I was born in the Exe valley and I will probably die here. However I have spent much of my life travelling and working in all four corners of the world; my work has always been involved with trying to understand the complex ecology of forests and their rivers. With over forty years experience under my belt I now hope to be able to use this expertise to influence the powers that be in order to improve more and more the environment of the Exe estuary and Jurassic Coast.

About eight years ago, while serving as a Councillor, I became more
interested in the local environment. Being able to talk and listen to
experts made me realise what had passed me by and how difficult it is
to access information locally.
Everyone should have easy access to learning and I believe a Visitor
Centre is the way to provide it. Not only would it provide a wonderful
environmental learning opportunity for all but would do much to
improve our local economy and our standard of living.
Although not an expert I’m only too happy to help.
